Class 2- making new friends

So I first picked some random destination in second life. After doing this the first thing I did was cheak if there were many people I could talk to and get to know. The first destination I picked there was none to talk to so I left and decided to visit a beach. There were many people to talk, I first beginning messaging this girl asking "what she is going on second life". Her/ His avatar was bright blue like from the movie avatar. I remember finding it a little weird but I guess, you could be anyone you want on second life. 

She told me about how she has been on second life for 4 years and her favourits part is meeting new people, dance and shopping. I find it a little odd that she goes on second life to do everyday activities. She later suggested we go into this building to play a game where I had a chance to win an avatar. I followed her inside where we sat at this machine and she wished me luck. Nothing seemed to be happening for me when we begin playing the game, so I decided to messager her to aks what is going on, she told me that we had lost and we never won the avatar. 

Once I losted she suggested I play with someone else "the avatar is very beautiful and is worth playing for". On each side of the game there was these charters that looked like anime charters. Which I later taught these were the avatar she was talking about. I later decided not to play again. After chatting to her I ralisted this beach I was on was kinda like a mythical island and that must have been why she was bright blue and that's why the avatars you could win looked like anime characters. 

I also messaged other people form this beach but only messaged me back in what looked like Spanish. So I asked if she spoke any English she replied with "?????", clearly illustrating she didn't understand what I was saying. 

I messaged a man who was face to face with the woman I just messagened.  They look like they were having a face to face conversation. I then began messaging him to ask about what he is doing on second life. He told me he didn't speak English and he was from Brazil. I didn't receive a  message back after that which I think is probably because he didn't understand what I was saying.

Over the last few weeks, the yellow group have decided what topic to research, what rolls everyone was doing and how we would approach the project in general. Class 6- Progress Group Project

Our whole group hasn’t met in person or on second life, but we have discussed the group project in a Facebook group chat we make a few weeks ago. We first decided we would break down the reading that came along with the brief, between each of us and we would meet and discuss our views and opinions. Well doing this in the group chat we have decided what the title and theme of the project will be and what each member is giving a task to complete. One of my fellow teammates got in contact with other people who have completed the course and they discussed the previews projects and how past years found it best to complete the task. By doing this She gained a better inside into the group project and this hugely benefited the group by, giving us some guidance’s into picking a theme. Class 6- Virtual Identities

Your virtual identity is a picture you paint to the world. As discussed in class, your virtual identity is chosen by you and there are many ways to portray your virtual identity and it many changing depending on the social media platform. If you are using a professional plate- form, you portray yourself differently than on Facebook or Instagram.  As you grow older your view of social media and the internet changes. Your virtual identity grows with, when you are younger you use games like club penguin and star doll, were you create this persona thought a charter. Now in some ways you are still creating this persona but rather then protecting the persona as a character, it's your life and what you want people to see.
